About Us
The origins of ‘Universatility’ can be traced at least back to 1981, when the term was coined in relation to a microprocessor board developed by an early pioneer of semiconductor technology. Our use of the word as our business name is purely coincidental, but it shows that what we might consider original ideas have often been developed before. However, our workbench remains totally unique.

The original version of Universatility bench was manufactured many years ago. At that time manufacturing costs in the UK meant it could only be made as a premium product and was subsequently sold in small numbers.
We now utilise suppliers offering the latest advances in manufacturing techniques such as laser cutting both the sheet and tubular steel to produce a more cost effective design manufactured in England. The worktops are made from sustainably sourced European birch plywood and profiled in our own workshop. The fasteners and fixings we use are sourced from local suppliers. All the product packaging we use, except the adhesive tape, is recyclable. The workbench comprises only 3 main constituent materials, namely steel, wood and nylon plastic, and at the end of its service life all these materials can be recycled. The only other material used in small quantity is silicone sleeving. |
